'Pravartak – The Journal of Insurance and Risk Management', was started by the students of National Insurance Academy - School of Management, Pune (NIASoM) on 2nd October 2005, when its first issue was inaugurated. Since then, it has now completed three glorious years. Initially, 'Pravartak' was launched as a quarterly journal. Owing to its growing demand from all corners, it has become monthly journal from January 2009, justifying its name 'Pravartak’ which in Sanskrit means Setting Foot.

'Pravartak – The Journal of Insurance and Risk Management' is a refereed journal with the objective of providing a platform for students, practicing managers, researchers and professionals in the field of insurance & risk management for sharing their thoughts, experiences and expertise. It is a forum for the publication of high quality research, analysis, discussion and opinion of experts by publishing articles, research notes, reports and comments focusing on the application of existing and potential research in this arena. Papers/articles for the journal are invited from practitioners in insurance companies, brokers, consultants, academicians & research scholars in India and abroad. In its endeavour, 'Pravartak - The Journal of Insurance & Risk Management' has received valuable contributions & tremendous support from eminent Indian and foreign authors as well as expert practitioners.
